Public Life is on a mission to unlock the potential of “hidden entrepreneurs” - individuals with lived experience and innovative ideas to address pressing social challenges, particularly in health and care. Our initiative, Citizen First LCR, is a 12-month, fully salaried program in the Liverpool City Region that supports eight local residents in transforming their ideas into impactful, community-driven ventures. Each participant receives £23,000 in salary, £5,000 in seed funding, and comprehensive training and mentorship. By removing financial and systemic barriers, we empower individuals to develop solutions rooted in their communities. Our approach is the culmination of seven years of work, resulting in a unique model that combines citizen-led innovation with structured support. This model not only addresses immediate community needs but also builds a foundation for sustainable social entrepreneurship. By using the collective strengths of communities, we aim to create a nationwide network of citizen-led solutions, driving systemic change from the grassroots.
